We are migrating from XP to Windows 7 and using USMT offline to migrate user settings etc. Network printers are migrated but on the users first login if the user tries to set their default printer they receive the following error message:- 'Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709) Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.' The printer is in fact installed and it is possible to print a test print, just not set the default printer. The issue is resolved by restarting the print spooler (or logging out and back in or rebooting or re-installing the printer) so is only an issue during the users first login. Is there a way this can be 'fixed' or mitigated so users have a totally smooth migration experience at first login? If this junk isn't occasionally cleaned out, it can cause CutePDF to respond slowly or provides an 1798 error, possibly due to file conflicts or an overloaded hard drive. Cleaning up these temporary files with Disk Cleanup might not only solve your 1798 error, but can. Problems with Adobe Acrobat X Pro By Robert Ambrogi on January 21, 2011 Recently, I received an invitation from Adobe to download a review copy of its latest PDF software, Adobe Acrobat X Pro. We've had the same problem and it took me some time to figure out a solution. It was some kind of a permission issue for HKCU Software Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Windows. The User had only read permissions (or even no permissions - i'm not completely sure about this) Furthermore the Device was an 'old' device - a buggy devmode2 printer driver that has been deleted some time ago. After changing permissions and renaming the key to windows.x and restarting the spooler the problems where gone. At the moment i cannot reproduce the error - but maybe this helps someone else. Btw.: In Acrobat Reader X we've seen the old/deleted printer, which was not visible in the printer and fax control panel kind regards, mike. I have had the same problem. I think it occurs after I tried some things with the UAC User Account Control settings. I set them from 'never notify' to 'always notifiy' to check the behaviour. I had the problem even after setting back UAC to 'never notifiy'. I had only read permissions on the registry key. I think I had the problem since this time (for a longer time.) until I found this solution with the HKCU. Windows -key. Renaming of the windows key worked for me, too.:-) Thanks a lot! Hi Norman, I have Acrobat X Standard and have had trouble printing to Adobe PDF. Instead, I use several of the free PDF print drivers out there. Buku keperawatan jiwa pdf merge tool free. Six good ones are Bullzip, CutePDF Writer, doPDF, Nitro PDF Creator (part of the Nitro Reader install), PDFCreator, and PrimoPDF: They have varying features and some folks prefer one over the other, so you may want to experiment to see which one you like the best. At one time CutePDF was my favorite, then it was doPDF, and my current choice is Bullzip. So I suggest trying Bullzip first to see if it works well for you; if not, try doPDF next; then the others until you find one that you like. All of them install a 'printer' so that you can 'print' to it from any Windows program, including, of course, FireFox and IE. I've used these free PDF print drivers with Firefox and IE (and Chrome and Opera) for many years, including the latest FF 26.0 and IE11. Regards, Joe. Hm, whilst offering an alternative program certainly circumvents the problem, I wonder if there is not a solution for this. Access denied always suggests permission issues. Check Devices & Printers> Printer Properties> Security. What rights do you have? These access issues either relate to the printer permissions being blocked for your account (unlikely) or access to the application folders, registry keys and temp folder - where A XI tries to spool the file to- being restricted (more likely).
